I was just checking out the latest from the PHP.net and I was that PHP 4.3.5 Release Candidate 2 is now available. According to the NEWS file not much has changed, but you should still download and test it if you are a PHP developer.

The thing tat caught my eye with this release is the news post on the front page of the PHP site. It reads:

PHP 4.3.5RC2 released!
[03-Feb-2004] PHP 4.3.5RC2 has been released for testing. This is likely to be the last release candidate prior to the final release, so please test it as much as possible. List of changes can be found in the NEWS file.

That looks normal enough you say? Well the bit that caught my eye was “This is likely to be the last release candidate prior to the final release“. Now correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure that is what they wrote for the news announcing the release of PHP 4.3.5rc1!?!

I tried to find the news post about the release of PHP 4.3.5rc1 but it appears to have never existed, and hence the title of this post. Those that have read George Orwells Nineteen Eighty Four will know what I mean, those that haven’t read Nineteen Eighty Four should read it as it is a blindingly good book.
